Michael Mack Sr., 71

ARCHER — Michael James “Mike” Mack Sr., 71, of Archer died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at home, surrounded by his family.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date, in lieu of flowers.Mike was born on Aug. 12, 1946, to George and Alice “Ruth” (Egan) Mack in Grand Island. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Northwest High School. He served in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising dogs and outdoor activities. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and playing cards (especially Uno). His greatest joy was spending time with grandchildren and family.He was united in marriage to Joan Brouwer on April 27, 1966. To this union six children were born, Mike (Sherry) Mack, with grandchildren Dane and Blake and great-grandchild Zaiden, Brenda Clark, with grandchildren RandiLee “Bubba” and Tyler, Troy (Amber) Mack, with grandchildren Derek, Nicholas and Jacob, James Mack, with grandchildren Dustin, Matthew, Timothy and Destinee and great-grandchild Lyric, Kevin (Jen) Mack, with grandchildren Dayton, Bryson, Alexis, Elijah, Kelsi and Emily, and Melissa (Keith) Lile, with grandchildren Jasmyne and Morgan.On Aug. 21, 1981, he married Cindy Marie Sharp and they recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. To this union, one child was born, Traci Anne (Clay) Payer, with grandchildren Catherine “Catie,” Clara and a new arrival of a grandchild expected in November. He was also survived by his sisters, Helen Mack and Paddi Mack; brothers, William Mack and Mark (Linda) Mack; a brother-in-law, Doug Sharp; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as by his dear to heart daughters, the Stander girls and Cynthia Kunze.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Georgene and Mike Clingerman; sister-in-law, Victoria Mack; his mother... Nola Lorraine Stelk, 89, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Pastor Daniel Bremer and Pastor Rodney Armon will be officiating. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Village in Grand Island or the American Cancer Society.Nola was born on May 22, 1928, near Ravenna to William and Metta (Glinsmann) Jakob. She grew up in Ashton and received her education at District 26 School in Ashton. She was united in marriage to Elmer Stelk on Sept. 11, 1952, in Grand Island, after which the couple lived in Grand Island where she was a devoted homemaker for her husband and children. She enjoyed playing cards, crafts and reading. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and Grace Lutheran Church.
